Who We Are

Greene County Soil & Water’s governing body consists of a Board of 5 Supervisors. Two of the supervisors are appointed and three are elected and they serve a 5-year term. To serve on the board they must have a permanent residence in Greene County, be of legal voting age and be able to perform the duties of a Supervisor. The Board meets the morning of the third Wednesday of each month. Meeting notices will be posted at the office, as well as on the Greene County Facebook page.

The 5 Supervisors select a District Manager to perform the daily management of the GCSWCD office as a county employee.

Indiana's SWCD's Goals

Indiana’s 92 Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) work at the grassroots level in both rural and urban settings to develop locally-driven solutions to natural resource concerns.

The Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) works at a state level to promote and enhance conservation. We do this through legislative advocacy, public outreach, and supporting our member SWCDs in their local work. The IASWCD represents the interests of local Districts as one voice, and assists their leadership through
coordination and education for the wise use and management of our natural resources.
